In Kolkata, most residential buildings, commercial complexes, and institutional facilities have overhead or underground water tanks made of reinforced cement concrete (RCC) or masonry, and over time these tanks develop cracks, porosity, and surface deterioration that can lead to water leakage and — more seriously — contamination of the stored water by external pollutants, bacteria, and chemicals. Our water tank waterproofing service is specifically designed for tanks that store drinking water, and we exclusively use products that are certified as non-toxic and safe for potable water contact by the relevant Indian and international standards. The products we use include Dr. Fixit Pidicrete (a polymer-modified cementitious waterproofing coating), SikaTop Seal 107 (a two-component cementitious waterproofing slurry), and Berger Water Tank Coating — all of which are tested and certified for potable water tank applications. Our waterproofing process for water tanks involves several critical steps: first, complete draining and cleaning of the tank to remove all sediment, algae, and biological growth; second, mechanical surface preparation by wire brushing and chiselling to remove all loose, weak, or contaminated concrete and plaster; third, repair of all cracks, joints, and surface defects using polymer-modified repair mortar; fourth, application of two or more coats of the certified waterproofing coating on all internal surfaces (floor, walls, and ceiling of the tank) using brush or spray; fifth, curing of the coating as per manufacturer instructions (typically 3-7 days of keeping the surface moist); and finally, disinfection and flushing of the tank before it is returned to service. For external tank waterproofing, we apply weather-resistant coatings that protect against rain and atmospheric exposure.
